2020 Four-Star WR Michael Redding III Already Planning Return Visit To Notre Dame
It’s been a big 24 hours for IMG Academy (Fla.) and Notre Dame.
On Wednesday night, 2021 offensive lineman Greg Crippen went public with his commitment to the Irish and on Thursday, 2020 four-star receiver Michael Redding made his way to South Bend for an unofficial visit.
“I saw a lot and I saw the things I wanted to see,” Redding told Irish Sports Daily. “It was a really good visit. I was excited to visit.”
The highlight of the day for the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder was taking in Notre Dame’s practice on Thursday morning.
“Watching practice and seeing Coach Alexander was great,” explained Redding. “I was able to see him coach up the receivers and see how they practiced.”
Redding was able to see how competitive Notre Dame’s practice was, but also how they translated positional drills into a competition.
“The receivers and defensive backs did some 1-on-1s and some release drills,” stated Redding. ‘It was very competitive, but it was also very technical. You could tell they were working on specific techniques for certain routes. They were still learning while they were competing.”
Following practice, Redding was able to have in-depth conversations with Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly and receivers coach Del Alexander.
“I had great conversations with Coach Kelly and Coach Alexander,” Redding said. “Talking to Coach Kelly about my recruiting process was pretty cool. He told me not to worry about a lot of things and to focus on myself.
Alexander has been in Redding’s ear for months and Thursday offered a chance to get some 1-on-1 time to build an already strong relationship.
“I talked to Coach Alexander about Notre Dame by itself,” Redding explained. “We went over the offense and stuff too.
“He’s a good guy and I have a good relationship with him. He’s the one that’s been recruiting me the most from Notre Dame. We were figuring out what I wanted to do. We were talking about figuring out an official visit for the next time I wanted to come up. He was glad and appreciative of me coming up to visit with him.”
Redding will now turn his attention to figuring out when he wants to take his official visits and Notre Dame is in great shape to host one of the top receivers in Florida again.
“I think I’ll take them after my football season or in the summer,” said Redding. “I’m definitely coming back to Notre Dame for an official visit.”
