I recently went back and read a piece on Mike Elko that I wrote a couple of years ago. This was during the spring when the Irish defense was showing signs of improvement, but clearly still had plenty of questions they needed to answer before they started playing games.

Just about all of those questions were answered and the defense ended up playing pretty good football that fall, but it might have been tough to imagine it playing out the way it did during that spring.
