Notre Dame has invited Yousef Mugharbil‍ to its summer camp and the 2021 North Carolina offensive lineman says he will try to make it.

“If I can get out there, I will for sure,” the 6-foot-5, 300-pounder says.

“I know they have a pretty good football team. I haven’t really looked into them that much. I saw they’re 11-time national champs, so that’s something.”

The Murphy High School standout has early offers from North Carolina, North Carolina State, Duke, Tennessee, Illinois and Virginia Tech.

“It’s crazy,” he says. “The last person to have that around here was like in the 80s. Being the only one here getting all of this attention, it’s stressful, but at the same time, it’s kind of nice.”

He’s visited each of the in-state schools that has offered along with Tennessee.

“I went to Tennessee not too long ago. I was at UNC and Duke when they offered me, same with NC State,” he explains. “They were all great visits. I also went to Clemson and Georgia on visits. I went to Clemson for twice, for their spring game and a regular visit. I had a great time there.”

He’s got a couple camps planned for the summer.

“I’m going to Clemson and Georgia,” Mugharbil says.

If he’s able to get to South Bend, he’ll be looking to see what Notre Dame is about.

“Just how their facilities are and how their schooling is in general,” he says of what he’d be looking at. “Also, just how the coaches are to see if it feels like home for me to go down there.”

He knows Notre Dame would be evaluating him as well and thinks the coaches would like what they’d see.

“I think they’d see someone who is a very hard worker,” he says. “I think they would also see someone who does their assignments well and doesn’t come up short. I like to win.

Mugharbil will be looking for a blend of athletics and academics when it comes time to pick a college.

“I’d probably say how their football is and how the work fits me and the same for the school. I want to go to a place where I can also get a good education and at the same time, get a good football career going for me, so the level of play.”
