Hunter Wohler‍ got up to Notre Dame for the Irish’s Sunday Night Lights Camp this weekend and after performing in front of the staff and checking out campus, the 2021 Wisconsin safety is already eyeing a return visit.

“It was good,” the 6-foot-1, 184-pounder said. “I liked it.”

“Right away, we did tests and stuff; ran the 40, pro agility, broad jump. Then, we broke out into position groups. We did footwork drills and worked on hip turns and stuff like that. We went over Man and Press and Off coverages and then did some one-on-ones.”

The Muskego High School standout felt like he performed well.

“I think I did decent,” he said. “I think I did pretty well. I could have performed a little better I think, but overall, I think I did well.”

He spent much of the day working with Irish safeties coach Terry Joseph.

“He’s a fiery coach for sure,” said Wohler. “I liked him as a coach, definitely.”

And the coaches liked what they saw from Wohler.

“They said they liked it,” he said. “They said they liked how I looked and that they can’t wait to work with me some more and get me up there again.

“They want to get me up there for a game this year, so I’m definitely going to have to head up there and check it out some more.”

Wohler had positive impressions of Notre Dame coming into the trip.

“I just like it,” he said. “Obviously, they have a great overall winning tradition. Just the campus in general is super nice. The school, the connections you make through the University are helpful, so I like that a lot.”

When he gets back, he’d like to get a better feel for the atmosphere of the school and the program, what the people are like and what game days are like in South Bend.

He’s headed to camps at Wisconsin and Michigan State later this month.

He already has offers from Wisconsin, Michigan State, Iowa, Iowa State and Minnesota.

“It’s nice,” Wohler acknowledged. “I like it for sure. But it doesn’t come across my mind too often. I just have to keep working, but it’s definitely nice to know you have that going for you right now. It’s definitely motivation to keep going for sure.

“(College coaches) said they like my aggressiveness, my ability to come downhill and make tackles at the line of scrimmage.”

He’d love to add Notre Dame to that offer sheet someday.

“It would be nice,” he said. “It would mean a lot getting an offer from school that high up. It would feel pretty nice.”

He knows what he’s looking for in a college.

“The winning tradition for sure, campus itself, where it’s at and what it’s like on the campus, school, the education and the coaches for sure. How I like the coaches and the team.”
