2022 Houston Heights (Texas) safety Bobby Taylor Jr. had all eyes on him before, during and after Notre Dame’s Sunday Night Lights camp. Not only does he have a familiar name, but Taylor showed off his potential during camp as he was one of the top defensive backs in attendance.

“It was a fun camp and it was a good opportunity to meet some of the coaches,” Taylor told Irish Sports Daily. “It was good to showcase skills. It was my first time going there for camp. Since my dad went there, I knew it was a good environment and I liked it a lot.”

Taylor was very grateful to get to work with Todd Lyght and Terry Joseph as they were able to give him several pointers to help develop his game.

“They were amazing,” explained Taylor. “They were able to give me good tips on my technique, steps and footwork. I’ll be able to take that back to Houston to craft my game and get ready for the season.”

The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder was able to adjust his game to the older competition and made plays during 1-on-1’s at the end of the camp.

“I think I did well,” stated Taylor. “I had a pick and then I had a couple pass breakups. At the end, I was going against a four-star receiver (Deion Colzie) and I did pretty well against him. I was proud of that.”

Taylor had been to South Bend before, but he was so young he didn’t remember it. The Houston native was able to see Notre Dame this weekend, but he left impressed with what he saw.

“Everything was amazing,” Taylor said. “It was one of the top camps I’ve been to so far. The weight room, stadium and the new indoor were great.”

Notre Dame was the first of many stops this summer for Taylor as he is scheduled to camp at some of the top programs in the country.

“When I get back, I’m going to go to Alabama Baylor, Houston, LSU and North Texas,” said Taylor. “I’ll be all over the place.”
