Notre Dame has landed its first cornerback in the 2020 class as Clarence Lewis‍ has committed to the Irish.

The Mater Dei Prep (N.J.) star is fresh off his visit to Notre Dame and the Irish impressed him on and off the field.

“It checks all the boxes,” Lewis told Irish Sports Daily of his decision. The vibe and the atmosphere. I connected well and I could see myself there.”

The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder also felt at home with the academics at Notre Dame.

“I learned how much focus on the academic part and the life after football as much as sports because sports aren’t going to last forever,” said Lewis.

The four-star prospect also said he was simply looking for the right vibe and Lewis found it in South Bend.

“I feel like you can tell, there’s a vibe you get when you’re there,” he said. “It was a great experience.

Lewis is glad the process is over and will now turn his focus to enjoying his senior season.

“It feels good,” said Lewis. “Now I can concentrate on my season and not think other stuff.”

Lewis chose Notre Dame over programs like Boston College, Duke, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.
