2021 Athlete Daylan Carnell Remains High On Notre Dame
2021 Ben Davis (Ind.) athlete Daylan Carnell made his way back to Notre Dame on Sunday for Irish Invasion. The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder worked out at defensive back, but also battled fatigue and a little bit of sickness during the camp.
“I was very limited and I didn’t do too much,” Carnell stated following camp. “I had a very busy week and on Saturday I had six 7-on-7 games. I was just fatigued on Sunday.”
Carnell holds offers from Central Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Purdue and Washington State entering the summer and he could end up on either side of the ball.
Notre Dame projects him on defense, while other some other programs like him more at receiver.
“I’m more comfortable at defensive back right now, but three times a week, I work with my receiver trainer,” said Carnell. “I want to be equal at both positions.”
The Indianapolis native will now work on setting up a few more visits this summer and he’ll likely stay in the Midwest for those.
“I don’t have any other visits set up,” Carnell stated. “I plan on getting to Iowa, Minnesota and Penn State. I’m talking to a lot of Big Ten schools about getting up for a visit.”
The tradition of the Big Ten schools stick out to Carnell, but Notre Dame has set a high bar following multiple trips to campus.
“They are very high on my radar,” said Carnell. “I like Notre Dame and the coaches. I really like everything about it. It all stands out to me.”
