2021 Fannin County (Ga.) offensive lineman Mason Bundy‍ will experience a weekend of firsts as he heads to Notre Dame.

It will be the 6-foot-6, 270-pounder’s first time at Notre Dame, but also his first time in the air.

“I’m pumped and really excited,” Bundy told Irish Sports Daily. “I’m just nervous about flying for the first time.”

Bundy will compete at the Lineman’s Challenge on Saturday and wants to get a feel for the coaching style of offensive line coach Jeff Quinn and the Notre Dame offense.

“I’m really hoping to get a feel for Notre Dame’s offensive style,” stated Bundy. “I want to learn some stuff I can take back to my team.”

The chance to work with Quinn and his staff is an exciting part of the camp season for Bundy. He’s been to several camps already this spring and hopes to take away more from Quinn.

“A lot of it is form and aggressiveness,” Bundy said of his camp takeaways. “My technique has been tweaked a little bit and I’ve come across a bunch of offensive styles in terms of alignments. It’s all different, but I’m hoping to learn something I can use.”

Notre Dame hasn’t had much communication with him to date, but he’s hoping that will change following the camp.

“I haven’t had very much contact with Notre Dame,” said Bundy. “I’m familiar with them, but there is more I can learn about.”

Bundy is also working towards his first offer, which could come soon as two programs in the South have an eye on him.

“North Carolina and Tennessee,” Bundy stated. “I love UNC. It’s far enough from home, but it’s still not too far. The campus is spectacular and I love it up there.

“There is a really good vibe around the UNC program. There is a support too. The fanbase is strong and the coaches love their players.”

The Tar Heels and Vols hosted Bundy for camp, so an offer could come any day, but that hasn’t stopped him from continuing to showcase himself as he’ll be at an SEC powerhouse before heading to Notre Dame.

“I started with Tennessee and then I went to Vanderbilt’s camp the same weekend,” explained Bundy. “The weekend after that, I went to North Carolina and NC State. Friday, I’ll be going to Auburn and then flying up to Notre Dame.

“It’s been good competition and I’ve gone against some guys who received offers at the camp. I feel confident in myself.”
