Brockermeyer Brothers Talk Notre Dame Visit
Notre Dame had the chance to host a pair of top offensive linemen in the Class of 2021 earlier this week in Tommy Brockermeyer and James Brockermeyer.
“It went really well,” James told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “I thought it was really cool. The tradition kind of speaks for itself there. I had a real good experience getting out there to see it.
“The campus was pretty sweet. Some of the buildings there are from the 1800s. It’s really traditional. You never really get to see stuff like that.”
Tommy added, ““I thought Notre Dame was amazing. The culture and tradition there is just unbelievable.”
The Texas natives had the chance to spend time with Irish offensive line coach Jeff Quinn.
“I like Coach a lot,” Hames said. “He’s obviously a great o-line coach. He coached guys like Quenton Nelson and Mike McGlinchey, so he definitely knows what he’s doing.”
Tommy echoed those comments.
“I could just tell he’s an elite o-line coach,” he said of Quinn. “He definitely knows what he’s doing. He cares about the player first and then football after. That’s a big thing.”
One thing that stood out was how the current Irish offensive linemen made it a point to introduce themselves to the brothers.
“That was awesome,” Tommy said. “We got to talk to them. We had dinner with them. It was awesome just getting to see how they thought about Notre Dame. It’s always good to talk to a player and get to ask them a lot of good questions about the University.”
James laughed, “First of all, those guys are some of the biggest human beings I’ve ever seen in my life. They’re some really good guys.”
James noted how that doesn’t always happen on college visits.
“They kind of went out of their way to talk to us about it,” he said. “They’re just great overall people there.”
Tommy currently has an offer from the Irish along with several other major programs. James has several high offers himself and Notre Dame said it wanted to see his first few games this upcoming season before making a decision.
“I’m going to do my thing regardless if people offer me or not, but it’s extra motivation to think about going into the season,” James said.
Both brothers were impressed with the visit.
“I think it’s a great school for offensive linemen,” said James. “It has a cool campus, great coaches there.”
Tommy said, “Yes, I’ll definitely consider them.”
