BREAKING | Notre Dame Lands Commitment From 2020 CB Landen Bartleson
Notre Dame changed the recruitment for 2020 Boyle County (Ky.) standout Landen Bartleson and it has led to a commitment from the three-star defensive back.
The Fighting Irish were the first program to recruit the 6-foot, 185-pounder as a defensive back as other programs saw him as a running back. It wasn’t an easy decision to see himself on defense, but it made more and more sense as Bartleson thought about it.
“I feel comfortable at corner and I can see myself excelling at the next level,” said Bartleson.
Bartleson has been a fixture at Notre Dame over the last six months as he has seen multiple practices and saw firsthand how he would fit in with the guys on the roster.
“I could see myself in the position to play with those players and for that coaching staff,” stated Bartleson.
However, a talk with defensive coordinator Clark Lea might have been the tipping point for both sides. Notre Dame was able to see Bartleson as an ultimate competitor and Bartleson saw Lea as a coach who would challenge him.
“Coach Lea explained people always show the highlights,” said Bartleson. “It was different. I really got to sit in and pick out the formations and breaking down the play to really see why the plays turned out why they did. It was a different experience and a really good experience.”
Bartleson chose the Irish over offers from Cincinnati, Colorado, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Ohio State, Purdue, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and West Virginia.
