Hi everyone. I'm a lifelong Giants fan. I love recruting, drafting, and roster engineering. I stumbled upon TheDraftNetwork.com website that has a mock draft feature. I figured I would give it a shot.

I approached this mock draft trying to follow what the reports indicate the Giants will do. Fill needs with best available. The major priorities are Skill position WR or TE and EDGE or LB.

For the first 4 rounds, I plan to go back and forth between offense and defense. Which side of the ball I start with depended on how the first 10 picks unfolded. Decide once I'm on the clock. Playmaker on offense or stud on defense.

After the first 10 picks were taken, my options were Devonta Smith (WR) or Micah Parsons (LB). I have concerns with Smith's light frame. 175 is very thin for what I would want out of a difference making WR. I decide to go with Micah Parson who is evaluated as a potential differene making LB. Parsons fills a major need for the Giants.

Team Needs: WE, EDGE, TE, CB, LB, IOL, EDGE, OT, CB, QB, S, RB

1. Trevor Lawrence (QB) - Jaguars
2. Zack Wilson (QB) - Jets
3. Penei Sewell (OT) - Dolphins
4. Justin Fields (QB) - Falcons
5. Ja'Marr Chase (QB) - Bengals
6. Kyle Pitts (TE) - Eagles
7. Jaylen Waddle (WR) - Lions
8. Calen Farley (CB) - Panthers
9. Patrick Surtain II (CB) - Broncos
10. Rashawn Slater (OT) - Cowboys

Team Needs: WE, EDGE, TE, CB, LB, IOL, EDGE, OT, CB, QB, S, RB

Round 1 (11) Micah Parsons (LB) 6'2 / 245 (Penn State)

Micah Parsons projects as a dynamic impact player at the NFL level. Parsons, who elected to opt-out of the 2020 college football season, has two seasons of high-impact play on his film resume and his impact was only further affirmed as the Penn State defense fell apart without him on the field for the 2020 season.

Round 2 (43) Landon Dickerson (IOL) 6'6 / 326 (Alabama)

Dickerson is a well-traveled prospect that played at Florida State (2016-2018) and Alabama (2019-2020). Playing all five positions up front, he has gained experience at multiple spots. Settling in along the interior during the back half of his career, he came into his own while in Tuscaloosa. Bonus points for OL flexibility and being able to play all 5 positions on the OL.

Round 3 (75) Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR) 6'1 / 195 (USC)

Amon-Ra St. Brown aligns at wide receiver for the Trojans offense, typically from the slot. He plays with very good overall athleticism, as evidenced by his body control and agility as a route-runner. His play embodies a blue-collar toughness and competitiveness rarely seen from a wide receiver. He is excellent in contested catch situations due to his competitiveness and big play ability.

Round 4 (116) Daelin Hayes (EDGE) 6'3 / 260 (Notre Dame)

A little bit of a reach here, but I have always loved Hayes' athleticism and still think he can be a difference-maker as a pass rusher coming off the edge.

EDGE defender Daelin Hayes projects as a hybrid pass rusher in the NFL. The Irish used him frequently in 2020 to stack in a two-point stance and attack the LOS from tight alignments. He did well there, tooHayes nearly equaled his career-high for a single season with six tackles for loss and tied his career-high with three sacks on the year.

***Apparently the mock draft traded my 5th round pick. So instead of a pick around 150, my next pick is in round 6 at 197, followed by another 6th round pick at 202

Doing a good job of filling needs with potential difference makers with the first 4 picks. Starting with my 6 round pick I will focus on need over best available.

Round 6 (197) Joshua Kaindoh (EDGE) 6'7 / 247 (Florida State)

There were a couple of prospects rated higher than Kaindoh and would have filled a need, but I couldn't pass up on Kaindoh's potential and physical traits.

PROS: Toolbox is loaded with physical traits. Has a tremendous frame with long arms and a thick lower half. Has sufficient functional strength to hold up as a run defender and convert speed to power. Profiles well as a compression style end that takes advantage of his heavy hands, long arms and strength.
A slew of WR and RBs were rated ahead of Kaindoh. Along with a couple of CBs that would fill a need, but Kaindoh's potential was to much to pass up.

Round 6 (202) Marco Wilson (CB) 6'0 / 190 (Florida)

Wilson fills a need at CB. I like his makeup. There were two other CBs rated slightly higher on the TDN big board, but I like Wilson's upside.

Pros (+): The younger brother of former Gator corner Quincy Wilson, he's a long and rangy prospect that has many tools in his toolshed. Wilson has experience time at both outside corner and in the slot as a nickel defender against multiple receiver sets. He shows to be a quick processor of plays and when noticing the offenses plan of attack, he seeks it out quickly by striking it

END OF DRAFT

Not sure what happened to my 5th and 7th round picks. Not sure if the Giants traded them previously or if the Mock Draft made the trade 4 me. I did get two 6th round picks, so I assume there was a trade somewhere in there.

I would have like one more pick to try to roll the dice on a best available or to fill a secondary need. Another OL or defensive player.

Summary

I do like the 6 picks I was able to land. Especially the top 4.

Parsons likely is an instant starter who can be a difference-maker by mid-season.

Dickerson provides depth (if not a starter) on the OL.

St. Brown wasn't the stud at SC that I expected, but I still think he can be an excellent NFL WR. Would love to see him mix it up in the slot.

Hayes was a home-town pick, but I do think he adds something the Giants were missing in recent years.a pass rush specialist off the edge.

Kaindoh has a huge upside. Amazing physical traits. I see him as a JPP.

Wilson fills a need at CB.

Needs not met....I would have liked an IDL and TE. Once Pitts was gone (I would have taken him in the 1st round) I had an eye on Tremble, but he wasn't there in the 4th round.

Hayes and Kaindoh are interesting and I would be very excited with either becoming a Giant.

Round 1 (11) Micah Parsons (LB) 6'2 / 245 (Penn State)
Round 2 (43) Landon Dickerson (IOL) 6'6 / 326 (Alabama)
Round 3 (75) Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR) 6'1 / 195 (USC)
Round 4 (116) Daelin Hayes (EDGE) 6'3 / 260 (Notre Dame)
Round 6 (197) Joshua Kaindoh (EDGE) 6'7 / 247 (Florida State)
Round 6 (202) Marco Wilson (CB) 6'0 / 190 (Florida)

Me neither!

I just remember he was supposed to be the real deal when ND was recruiting him.

His name was the one I recognized the most, so I drafted him. Let's hope the Giants staff is more thorough in their analysis!!
