As Notre Dame continues to evaluate the transfer wire, the Irish were included among the top schools for Trey Wertz, a 6-foot-4 guard who is transferring after two seasons at Santa Clara.

The Irish found themselves on the Top 11 Wertz released over the weekend along with Arizona, Butler, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Stanford, Vanderbilt and Virginia.

The Charlotte, N.C., native received a ton of interest after first putting his name in the Transfer Portal, but was ultimately able to take a step back to evaluate each of his options.

The former Providence Day High School standout is intrigued by the academics at Notre Dame and the Irish's style of play, which involves multiple guards.

He averaged 12 points, 4 assists and 3.5 rebounds as a sophomore this past season.

Assistant coach Ryan Humphrey has been leading the charge for the Irish.

The next steps aren't clear with the in-person recruiting ban in place. Coaches have done their best to get Wertz as much information about their schools as possible.

He's hoping to make visits, but he understands there's a chance he'll be in a position to make a decision before that's possible.

More on Wertz later.
