V.J. Beachem went undrafted at the NBA Draft Thursday night, but according to a source, the Fort Wayne (Ind.) native has signed a free agent deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves early Friday morning.
The 6-foot-8 senior averaged 14.5 points and 4 rebounds per game in 36 games for the Irish last season.
Beachem finished his career at Notre Dame sixth in games played (132), eighth in three-point field goal attempts (582), 14th in blocked shots (78), 16th in three-point percentage (.392), and 39th in scoring (1,215 points).
He scored a career-high 30 points against Syracuse on January 21st, shooting 12 for 22, including 6 for 10 from three-point range and seven rebounds.
Beachem was named to the NCAA East Regional All-Tournament Team in 2016 when the Irish reached the Elite Eight. That season he was also named Notre Dame Most Improved Player. In 2017 he was named to the All-ACC Honorable Mention.
Beachem was a four-year starter at New Haven High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was selected to the Indiana Senior All-Star Team as a junior and senior, along with former Irish teammate and current Boston Celtics guard Demetrius Jackson.
