Notre Dame on the Road | 1.21
Happy Friday. Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman will head to New Jersey on Friday to wrap up the week. He'll check on 2023 safety commit Adon Shuler and then head to Don Bosco Prep (N.J.), the home of 2023 offensive lineman Chase Bisontis. Shuler is solid in his commitment to Notre Dame, but maintaining a presence with those around him is always a positive. Bisontis camped at Notre Dame this summer and didn't make it back for a game. If he released a top group, Notre Dame would make the cut, but there is work for Harry Hiestand to do once he's officially hired. Offensive GA Trevor Mendelson is also expected to be on the visit to Don Bosco Prep.Chase Bisontis Offers: Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Boston College, Clemson, UConn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, LSU, Maryland, UMass, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, South Carolina, Syracuse, Temple, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, William & Mary and WisconsinAccording to a source, Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees will head to Chicago to make the rounds at several high schools. The biggest stop of the day for Rees will be at Simeon (Ill.) to check on 2023 receiver Malik Elzy, who holds an offer from the Irish. The four-star prospect visited campus in the fall for game and will have the chance to be a regular on campus. Elzy took a visit to Illinois last weekend. Malik Elzy Offers: Malik Elzy Offers: Arkansas, Boston College, Cincinnati, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Purdue, Syracuse, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, West Virginia and WisconsinPer a source, Irish tight ends coach John McNulty and safeties coach Chris O'Leary will be in New Jersey to end the week. McNulty is expected to join Freeman at Don Bosco Prep, but while also making a stop at Iowa Prep (N.Y.) to check on 2024 defensive back Ellis Robinson IV, who recently added an offer from Notre Dame. O'Leary will also be with Freeman to check on Shuler. We're not sure if O'Leary will be at Don Bosco Prep or if McNulty will be at Irvington, but it would make sense. Ellis Robinson IV Offers: Alabama, Arizona, Boston College, UConn, Florida State, Georgia, UMass, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Utah State and West Virginia Cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens will wrap his week up in Oklahoma to check on 2023 Booker T. Washington athlete Micah Tease. The four-star prospect has been to Notre Dame and the Irish are very much in this one. Tease is viewed as a cornerback for by the Irish staff, while others project him to end up at receiver. Christian Gray, Malik Muhammad and Tease are three kids likely in the mix for two spots at this point. Micah Tease Offers: Arkansas, Cal, Florida, Iowa State, Memphis, Michigan State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Pitt, TCU, Texas Tech, Tulsa, USC and WashingtonA source close to 2023 Notre Dame linebacker commit Drayk Bowen expects defensive analyst Nick Leznski to stop by Andrean (Ind.) to check on the top player in the state. Notre Dame has also started to evaluate 2024 Andrean receiver Patrick Clacks following his offer from Pitt. I'm not sure he'll end up being a high Power Five kid, but Notre Dame doing their due diligence on in-state prospects is important. A Fort Wayne source also expects Lezynski to stop by North Side (Ind.) again this week to check on 2024 athlete Brauntae Johnson. Johnson is one of top athletes in the state and will likely receive an offer sooner than later. He projects at receiver or safety. Brauntae Johnson Offers: Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas and PurdueAccording to a source, Brian Mason will head out on the road for the first time on Friday. He'll be checking on prospects in the Indianapolis area. 2023 Cathedral defensive lineman Kendrick Gilbert, 2023 Roncalli offensive lineman Trevor Lauck and 2023 New Palestine offensive lineman Luke Burgess are names we expect Mason to check on. Kendrick Gilbert Offers: Boston College, Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami (OH), Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Purdue, Toledo, Vanderbilt, Washington and Wisconsin Trevor Lauck Offers: Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami (OH), Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Purdue, Rutgers, Toledo and West Virginia Luke Burgess Offers: Arizona State, Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Miami (OH), Michigan State, Missouri, Oregon, Purdue, Toledo, Vanderbilt and West Virginia Chad Bowden is expected to end his week in Cincinnati checking on several underclassmen

National Average Rating

The National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a Irish Sports Daily rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the Irish Sports Daily Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide Irish Sports Daily readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.
