2023 OL Luke Burgess Set To See Notre Dame This Fall
Luke Burgess hit the road this summer, making stops at Purdue, Boston College, Indiana, Iowa State and Cincinnati, but the 2023 Indiana offensive lineman knows that his recruitment will kick into a new gear next week, when college coaches can start contacting him directly.
The New Palestine High School standout already has offers from Indiana, Purdue, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Missouri, Iowa State, Boston College and Oregon among others.
Notre Dame offensive line coach Jeff Quinn has invited the 6-foot-8, 270-pounder to campus this fall and he’ll be in town for the USC game in October.
“Since it's not September yet, he can't do much contact with us,” Burgess says. “But he's been sending me a lot of camp invites and he's been wanting to get me on campus for the game.
“It's a big deal for me, them in being a real big o-line standout school and it being in-state, it's a big deal to me.”
Burgess is looking forward to his first trip to Notre Dame’s campus.
“Just to feel the atmosphere, especially on game day, just seeing all the fans and being in the stadium,” he says. “I can't wait.
Burgess is fired up about the early offers.
“It's real exciting,” he says. “I have a lot of time to develop, so I just can't wait to see what happens
“They like my size and my structure and my frame and how I'm able to move with that.”
In addition to South Bend, Burgess is planning to make stops at Indiana and Purdue and potentially some others this fall.
He isn’t in a rush to narrow his choices or make a commitment just yet.
“I'm thinking about cutting my list down definitely before senior year, but commitment day, I'm still going to see what comes and what doesn't and see what happens,” he says.
Burgess does have a good idea of what he’s looking for in a college.
“The coaches and just the atmosphere and the culture that it's built around. At New Palestine, we have a really big culture, so I'm really used to a strong weight room. It's a real heavy and tough culture, so I'm looking for that.”
