Notre Dame helped itself with Trenton Yancey and may have done enough to move into serious contention.The 2027 Texas wide receiver made his first trip to South Bend and came away with a strong impression, particularly with how the Irish use their receivers and the overall structure of the offense.Yancey pointed to Notre Dame's ability to move receivers around and create touches for playmakers as a major takeaway, something he clearly sees as a fit for his skillset.The visit also resonated beyond football.Yancey highlighted the program's combination of development, academics and overall environment, including the experience around campus and the religious aspect, as factors that stood out.Notre Dame now appears to be firmly in the mix.Yancey identified the Irish alongside Florida, Mississippi State and Kentucky as schools standing out at this stage.With an official visit schedule still coming together, this trip gave Notre Dame an important foothold in a recruitment where it had been working from behind.He plans on announcing his commitment on July 5.

2027 WR Sets Notre Dame Visit
2027 Duncanville (Texas) receiver Trenton Yancey tells me he will visit Notre Dame on April 18th. It will be his first trip to Notre Dame, so it's a big one if the Irish want him to take an official visit. Yancey has set one official and it will be to Florida on June 4th. Irish Sports Daily Rating

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.
