Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly spoke following the first practice of the fall on Sunday. 

On the first practice:
"A good first day. I told the guys, they were extremely purposeful and the way they went to work. We're trying to lay down the programming for the season, so when they play, they can call on what we do here in preseason practice. This isn't about testing physically where they are. They were in great physical condition.
