2022 QB Te'Sean Smoot Has Couple Early Offers, Eye On Notre Dame
The recruiting process has started early for TeSean Smoot, a 2022 quarterback from Springfield, Ohio, who already has offers from Kentucky and Bowling Green.
“It makes me feel like teams can see the talent that I have and that they know as I’m growing up, I can get better and will be able to take my team to State,” the 6-foot, 165-pound sophomore says.
“That’s one of my main goals. It shows that they see it in me early. They’re taking a chance in offering me young.”
He’s receiving interest from other schools as well.
“Miami of Ohio said if I was older, they would offer me, but they don’t offer freshmen,” he says.
Notre Dame invited the Springfield High School standout to camp in South Bend this summer. He couldn’t make it, but hopes to attend next year.
“I think they’re a pretty good school. I know they play Florida State a lot,” he says. “Florida State has been my favorite team since I’ve been growing up.
“I liked the quarterback they had, Everett Golson. I liked him a lot and then he went to Florida State. I watch them here and there a little bit.”
Smooth believes he could impress Notre Dame in a camp setting.
“I think I could show them how good I can throw the ball, accuracy, my arm and that I have a high football IQ,” he says.
“I describe myself as a dual-threat. I always model my game after Russell Wilson because he’s not really that tall and he can run and throw.”
If he does get the chance to check out Notre Dame, he’ll be looking for more than football.
“One of the main things that people usually tell me is to learn about the academics and figure out what I would want to major in if I went to school there and what I would do that would help me succeed in life,” he says.
Science is his favorite subject and says that’s “one of the main areas I’ve been thinking about.”
Smoot was busy this summer, hitting a dozen camps, including Kentucky, Bowling Green, Miami-Ohio and Toledo. He plans to continue hitting the road for games this fall as well.
