Re-watch Notes | Notre Dame Defense vs Louisville

September 4, 2019

It sure seemed like we might be in for a long year on defense after those first couple of drives. 9.1 yards per play and two touchdowns against an offense that is pretty one-dimensional was not great to see.

The rest of the way was a different story.

220 yards on 57 plays (3.9 YPP) was a better reflection of how the defense played overall. There were some mistakes mixed in there as well, but they lessened a significant amount after those first couple of drives.

- 249 yards rushing (6.4 per carry minus sack yardage lost) is not what Brian Kelly wanted when he talked about stopping the run during his media day press conference.
