2022 DE Joe Strickland Will Be Back To Notre Dame
2022 Brebeuf Jesuit Prep (Ind.) defensive end Joe Strickland impressed at Notre Dame’s summer camp in June, so it wasn’t a surprise he got an invite to come up for a game this fall.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder made his way to South Bend on Saturday and left very pleased with what he experienced during the day.
“I loved it,” Strickland stated. “I got the same feeling throughout the whole visit. I liked it a lot.”
Saturday provided an opportunity to see more of what Notre Dame had to offer as Strickland was busy with camp in June.
“This time, I got to walk around the campus,” explained Strickland. “The last time, I saw the practice field and some of the stadium. This time, I was able to go throughout the whole campus. I saw all the tailgates, the students and the atmosphere. It was crazy.”
Notre Dame’s defense line impressed the Indiana native, but the amount of players who played also stood out to him.
“I liked the defense,” said Strickland. “I liked how they subbed in a lot on their defensive line. I like the way Coach (Mike) Elston has them play and warmup. I like it all.”
Elston made a significant impression on Strickland during the camp and seeing what he was taught translate to the game left a positive impression.
“I feel like it paid for me being there with him for five hours during camp,” Strickland said. “I’m sure it pays off for his players because they’re with him every day. It’s great for them. He’s doing a good job up there.”
Strickland and Elston also connected before the game.
“It’s pretty good,” Strickland said. “We communicated a lot after the camp and we talked during the visit. He got to meet my dad and that was good. I’m looking forward to speaking with him and getting back up there again.”
Strickland will be busy over the next couple of weeks as he has three visits planned, but he’s also hearing from Miami and Ohio State.
“The next couple weeks, I’ll be at Cincinnati, Iowa and Indiana.”
