Notre Dame Impresses 2021 DL Bryce Carter

October 21, 2019

Elite Notre Dame running back commit Chris Tyree‍ wasn’t the only one representing Thomas Dale High School in South Bend for the Irish’s game against USC last week.

The Virginia native was joined by his teammate, 2021 defensive lineman Bryce Carter‍.

“It went great,” Carter said. “They displayed great hospitality. The campus was full of energy. The coaches were great. The atmosphere at the game, the fans were definitely different. That was the biggest thing about the game.”

The 6-foot-3, 245-pounder was struck by the energy of the student section during the Irish’s 30-27 win over the Trojans.

“Every time they scored a touchdown, they would get a fan and push them up in the air like push-ups,” he laughed. “You’d see a bunch of people in the air, it was just crazy.”

He enjoyed his conversations with members of the Notre Dame coaching staff.

“The coaches were real cool,” said Carter. “They told me what they saw from me, what they expect, what I need to work on. They said they’d be down by the school to check in on us.

“They said they like my aggression, they like my speed getting off the ball. They said I have to work my hands a little bit more, but for the most part they like my aggression and speed.”

Tyree gave Carter an idea of what to expect.

“He told me they’re going to keep it real with you, it’s a family there, it’s home,” Carter said of Tyree’s message. “You’re going to get what you get when you get there. There’s nothing fake.”

Carter has early offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Pittsburgh and Duke.

He was impressed with everything during the trip.

“I would just say seeing the fans and how they interact with each other and how they reacted to us, just showing love to us,” he said. “I know their academics were very good. Their academics are top-notch and that’s one thing I’m definitely looking for.

“It’s definitely up there right now.”
