Mekhi Miller‍ had the chance to visit Notre Dame a couple weeks back and the 2022 Kansas wide receiver is glad he took advantage of it.

“It was great,” Miller said of the trip to South Bend for the Irish’s win over USC. “We had a good tourist and everything showing us the campus. The campus was real nice. It was a good experience overall.

“I liked the campus the most, seeing where the players go, where the weight room is, watch film, the indoor practice field was real nice. I just enjoyed it.”

The atmosphere inside the stadium for Notre Dame’s 30-27 win over the Trojans struck miller.

“Those fans, they’re something else,” he said. “I definitely like how involved the fans were. It gets real loud and really exciting when you’re there.”

Miller, who has an early offer from Kansas, was also impressed with the Irish’s performance.

“I think they played pretty good until they started letting USC come back, but it was good how they held their lead,” he said. “I liked the way they played.

“I could see myself playing at Notre Dame. It’s just a good team, good culture overall.”

But as Miller looked down to the field and imagined himself out there, he was envisioning himself making plays the way USC’s Amon-ra St. Brown was.

“He was a monster,” he said of the youngest St. Brown brother. “I’ve been a big fan of him.”

While in town, Miller had a quick conversation with Irish receivers coach Del Alexander.

“He was just telling us a little bit about what was going on and what receivers do,” Miller said of Alexander. “He seems like a good dude. He seems like a good coach.

“He’s not one of those immature coaches. He seems like a great coach just based off that little talk. He seems like he knows what he’s talking about.”

Miller has already been to Kansas, Kansas State and Minnesota.

“They’re all great schools,” he said. “I like Minnesota’s atmosphere too. I’m just waiting to see what the future holds for me with other colleges.”

He’s hoping that future holds another trip to South Bend.

“I would definitely like to come to another game,” said Miller. “It’s a great atmosphere to be around.”

The offer from the Jayhawks came last spring.

“It was pretty exciting,” he said. “It was good to have that first offer. You’ll always remember that. It was just a great feeling.”

He feels Kansas State and Minnesota could be close.

Comfort will play a huge role in Miller’s ultimate decision.

“Football obviously plays a big factor, but it also has to do with coaches and the atmosphere."
