Holden Geriner‍ made the trip to check out Notre Dame for the first time earlier this month for the Irish’s game against USC and the 2022 quarterback says he will be back.

“It was awesome,” the Benedictine Military School standout said. “It was a lot of fun.

“The environment. I know that was one of their biggest games. Being there for that big game was just awesome and seeing how they do things was really cool.”

The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder got a chance to see campus, the facilities, the locker room and the field.

“The facilities are top-of-the-line,” Geriner said. “They were really nice.

“It’s an awesome campus. I like how it’s not too bad. You can get anywhere by walking. You get that feel when you walk on the campus, you know it’s just Notre Dame. It’s really cool.”

Geriner, who holds an early offer from Florida State, also learned about the opportunities Notre Dame can offer away from the field.

“They talked about all of their degrees and all kinds of stuff,” he said. “I really liked it.”

He was also impressed with the atmosphere for the game against the Trojans and the way the Irish played.

“How they had all of those green towels and the Green Out was really cool to me,” he said. “Playing under the lights at Notre Dame Stadium was pretty cool.

“They played really well. I like how they run it a lot. They’re balanced run/pass, I like it.”

The sophomore signal-caller had a brief chat with Notre Dame quarterbacks coach Tom Rees and is already looking to return to South Bend.

“I’m definitely going to camp there this summer, so I’ll stay in touch with them as much as possible,” said Geriner, who hopes to show off his arm strength, accuracy and football IQ at the camp.

He landed the offer from the Seminoles after working at their camp this summer.

“It was awesome,” he said. “It was very relieving. It’s huge.”

Geriner has plans to be in Tallahassee this weekend and Alabama next weekend. He’s also receiving interest from Georgia and Florida.

He’s looking for the best fit for himself on and off the field.

“I just want to do what’s best for me and my family.”
