Pouncey Supports Friend
Jordan Pouncey wanted to show support for his friend and he didn’t want to wait.
Earlier this summer, the 2017 Notre Dame wide receiver commit from Winter Park, Fla., shaved his head as a sign of support for his buddy Jack Suarez, who has been diagnosed with cancer.
“When I shaved my head, I guess he hadn’t lost all of his hair yet,” Pouncey told Irish Sports Daily.
“He was like, ‘Man, you’ve got less hair than I do.’ It was kind of funny, but I could definitely tell he appreciated it.”
Suarez, who is battling osteosarcoma in his leg, and Pouncey have been friends for years, but became especially close in the last year or so.
“We’ve been friends since elementary school,” said Pouncey, whose father used to teach Suarez’s older brother how to play drums.
“I’ve known Jack from that and I played baseball with him through middle school and this past year, we did Powder Puff together, so that’s when we actually became really close.”
Pouncey is confident in his friend’s ability to fight the biggest battle of his life.
“Knowing Jack, he’s not going to back down from any fight, so I know he’s going to fight through this until we beat it,” he said. “I lift Jack up through that.”
