2022 LB Tyler Martin Enjoys "Awesome" Notre Dame Return
Tyler Martin spent some fall Saturdays in South Bend as a youngster, catching Irish football games with his grandfather, who is a Notre Dame alum.
On Saturday, the 2022 Massachusetts linebacker was back on campus, but this time as an Irish football recruit.
“It went really well,” the Buckingham, Brown & Nichols School standout said. “It was awesome.
“It was really good to catch a game and do stuff with my grandfather and my dad and get back in touch with some of the coaches.”
The 6-foot-2, 235-pound sophomore was impressed by Notre Dame’s 40-7 beatdown of Boston College.
“Obviously, it was a good win for the team, so it was fun to watch,” he said.
Martin was at Irish Invasion this past summer and had the chance to reconnect with Notre Dame assistants Jeff Quinn, who recruits New England, and defensive graduate assistant Nick Lezynski
“We were just catching back up,” Martin explained. “I hadn’t seen them since the summer, so it was good to talk to them before and after the game.”
Martin has early offers from schools like Michigan, Nebraska, Virginia, Vanderbilt and Boston College among others.
He plans to stay in touch with the Irish moving forward.
“Whether it’s weekly, monthly, whatever. I’m just hoping for them to maybe come back out to school during the evaluation period and see them then. Maybe come out for the spring for a visit and maybe even in the summer again. But definitely just to stay in touch and hope to see them in person again soon.”
Next weekend, he’ll head to Ann Arbor to see the Michigan-Ohio State showdown.
