Sebastian Cheeks‍ was in South Bend for Notre Dame’s home finale against Boston College a couple weeks ago and the 2022 Illinois linebacker got to see what the place is like and he also got to hear about it from a pro.

“It went great,” the 6-foot-2, 207-pound sophomore said. “I loved the atmosphere.

“As soon as I walked into the stadium, I felt the whole atmosphere, it was really nice.”

The Evanston Township High School standout got to listen to what it’s like to be at Notre Dame from somebody who was there.

“They had Kyle Rudolph up at the podium talking about multiple things about what it was like to be at Notre Dame as a student and a player,” Cheeks said of the former Irish All-American and current Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowler.

“It was good to know the players’ experiences and see how it would be for you.”

He also got to bond with some of the coaches

“I got a chance to talk to the recruiting director and the assistant running backs coach,” he said.

“They were just talking about how they wanted me to come to camp and work out with them to see how they like me in the summer.”

That’s something he intends to do.

“I’m for sure going to be heading back up there,” said Cheeks, who has an early offer from Iowa State.

“I want to show them that I can get downhill. Speed is really important to me. I want to show them that I can move vertically. That’s always been a big factor for me.”
