Notre Dame extended an offer to Ceyair Wright‍ back in August. The Irish and the 2021 California cornerback weren’t able to see much of each other in the ensuing months, but they kept in contact.

“The contact has been pretty consistent,” Wright tells Irish Sports Daily. “I’ve talked to them a lot.

“They like me, they think I’m a playmaker and they want me to be a part of the team.”

And now they’re undertaking the process of really getting to know each other.

Last week, Notre Dame defensive backs coach Todd Lyght dropped by Loyola High School in Los Angeles to check on Wright and this coming weekend, Wright will be in South Bend to check out Notre Dame.

“I’m super excited,” the 6-foot-1, 170-pounder says. “This will be my first time on campus, so it should be fun.

“I know the school is really prestigious academically, so I want to learn a lot about their academics and what their mission is as a school. I also want to see the campus, feel the vibe of it and get to go around. Of course, I want to see the football facilities and stuff like that.”

Wright also has scholarship offers from schools like USC, Oregon, Cal, Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska, Utah and Washington State among others.

He took in-state visits to USC, Stanford, Cal and San Diego State this year along with a trip to Arizona State.

“I didn’t really get to go very far, so that’s what my goal is now,” he explains.

“When I’m out there at Notre Dame, I’m probably going to go to Northwestern and then probably try to go up to Oregon soon and Ohio State as well.”
