Recruitment Rundown
Maybe the most exciting recruitment of the cycle. He was offered so long ago that Autry Denson was the coach who extended the scholarship. Early in the process, Tyree made trips to Penn State and Virginia Tech. He didn’t know a ton about Notre Dame, but some of those close to him were confident he’d be very intrigued once he visited. He made that first trip last December and was extremely impressed, to the point that he knew he wanted to get back.

But, at the same time, Oklahoma was making a strong run as well and at one point, had the lead. When Lance Taylor was hired to replace Denson, he quickly made Tyree a priority. By the time spring of 2019 came around, Tyree was settled on a top three of Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Alabama, but heading into his May 23rd announcement, the Irish had emerged as the clear favorites and came away as the victors.

Thomas Dale Head Coach Kevin Tucker
“When he steps onto the football field, he brings a different dynamic that you don’t get from your ordinary high school athlete. He gets out there, he’s got breakaway speed, which is something you can’t coach. I think that’s something that is God-given.”

ISD Expert Jamie Uyeyama
The two players he reminds me of are former Florida State back Warrick Dunn and former West Virginia Swiss Army knife Tavon Austin.

I think he has the athleticism of Dunn and similar grit as a runner for his size. He has the same kind of speed as an Austin, although Austin was more receiver than runner (though he did have over 600 yards rushing in his final year in college).

The impact those two had on their teams is what I think Tyree can eventually provide at Notre Dame if he reaches his potential. That’s how talented he is.This is the type of skill talent the Irish have needed on offense and it’s going to be exciting to see what he will do during his time in blue and gold.

Favorite ISD Quote
“It’s definitely a brotherhood there with everybody. There aren’t really any cliques or anything. If you see one teammate there, you’re bound to see mostly the whole team. That’s what I like to see. It’s a real brotherhood.”
