Two sources have confirmed to Irish Sports Daily that senior linebacker Jonathan Jones has entered the Transfer Portal as a graduate transfer.

The Florida native has been one of the glue guys for Notre Dame over the last couple of years despite not seeing much action on the field.

Jones played in 12 games in 2019 as he held a significant role on special teams and recorded one tackle against Boston College.

In 2018, Jones saw action in 12 games and was credited with six tackles. As a sophomore in 2017, Jones played in 13 games and made 10 tackles and one tackle for loss.

As a freshman, Jones was one of nine freshmen who did not see action in 2016.

Jones chose Notre Dame on National Signing Day in 2016 and held offers from Cincinnati, Duke, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kentucky, LSU, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, Pitt, South Carolina, Stanford, Syracuse and West Virginia.

Jones will get his degree from Film, Television and Theatre and will have one year of eligibility remaining.
