Recruitment Rundown
For somebody who received a ton of attention at a young age – receiving an offer from Florida State as an eighth-grader will certainly bring that – Pyne managed to keep a pretty low profile early in his recruitment. Of course, his recruitment didn’t last all that long because he knew what he wanted. Growing up a big Notre Dame and Brady Quinn fan, Pyne made multiple trips to South Bend before announcing his commitment to the Irish in April of 2018, making him the very first commitment in the class.

Pyne made it his mission to make Notre Dame’s 2020 class as talented as possible and has spent the last year-plus getting to know not just the Irish’s top targets, but as many of their families as possible.

QB Country Coach Thomas Morris
“He’s just kind of a natural leader and a giver and will do more than what’s asked of him. He’s just a great kid. It’s just something that natural leaders have. He genuinely cares about people. He’s just an absolute pleasure to work with. He’s just a great kid.

“When you get down to it, there are a lot of really talented quarterbacks, especially when you get to that level. Everybody is really talented, but when you get on the field, if you have those intangibles, that’s what sets you apart; how fast you can process information, if you can get the team behind you by being a leader, being a grinder. I think those things are really important, especially as you move on to Notre Dame and on with his career.”

ISD Expert Jamie Uyeyama
Deep ball arm strength would be one of the things that could hold him back from reaching his potential in college, but he checks off every other box in terms of accuracy, decision-making, and intangibles. I'm very impressed with the way he processes things quickly as a passer.

I think he's similar to Ian Book in many ways, but already shows the potential to be better than Book with advanced pocket awareness and throwing with better anticipation.

Favorite ISD Quote
“Every time I walk in that stadium, it gives me the chills. Obviously, I watched ‘Rudy’ all of the time growing up. Every single time I walk in the stadium, it’s just surreal. It’s almost like the stadium is its own movie.

“Every time I go, it’s just unbelievable. There’s no other way to put it. It’s just a dream come true for me. I can’t wait to be a part of it and be suited up in that stadium.”
