Notre Dame is well aware of Christian Abraham‍.

“I get a whole bunch of mail from them like every single day about the program and everything,” says the 2021 New Jersey athlete, who adds that he also gets messages from the Irish on a virtual daily basis on Twitter.

“I always knew Notre Dame was a great place for football and education. It’s located in a great place. It has a great football environment.”

The 6-foot, 200-pounder from St. Joseph Regional says he knew much of the information already, but is humbled to be receiving the contact.

“It’s a great honor to have Notre Dame reach out to me so much,” he says. “I never really thought a big-time school like that would reach out to me. Now that they are, it’s a dope feeling.

“I’m going to keep talking to them. I want to visit the school and see how everything is going. Hopefully they offer me.”

Abraham, who could play running back, receiver or defensive back, says he hopes to get to South Bend this summer.

“I want to see what the environment is like,” he says. “I don’t want to just be a part of a team. I want to be a part of a family too where every single person is willing to die for the person next to them, knowing I just feel comfortable with the education and degree. Just the feeling I’ll get once I visit.”

He currently has more than a dozen offers from schools like Michigan, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Minnesota and Kansas among others.

“It’s a great feeling,” he says. “I didn’t really expect all of this to come. I worked hard for it. I love playing football, so once the offers started coming in, it was a great feeling to know I have the opportunity to go to the next level and do something with my life. Where I’m from, it’s not every day that you get opportunities like the opportunities I’m getting.”

He points to Boston College, Rutgers, Virginia and Nebraska as the schools that are coming after him hardest at the moment.

“A lot of guys say they like how I’m versatile,” says Abraham. “They can put me anywhere and I’ll be able to play that position. They watch my film and say that I’m a baller out on the field. They really like how I can move around.”

Abraham, who could also have an impact on special teams, says he prefers cornerback.

“I like to be one-on-one on an island and just be man on man, where it’s just mano-y-mano, me and you,” he says.

He’d like to start using official visits this spring and hopes to have a decision by the start of senior season, although he adds he’s “not too sure right now.”

“Whenever I feel comfortable and feel like I’m at home is when I’ll make that decision,” he says.

Comfort will be key along with education for Abraham, who plans to major in Business.

“I like to feel comfortable. I like to feel at home. I don’t want to be somewhere where later down the road, I’ll change my mind and want to go somewhere else. I want to know that I’m making the right decision. Education plays a big part in that because after football, you’ve got to have a backup plan. The NFL is ‘Not For Long,’ so I want to be able to go above sports.”
