2021 TE Michael Trigg Hopes To Check Out Notre Dame
Even with in-person recruiting paused because of the installation of a dead period in response to COVID-19 concerns, recruiting in general hasn’t slowed down much for 2021 Florida tight end Michael Trigg.
“It’s been pretty busy,” Trigg said. “My phone is always ringing, so I guess that’s a good thing.”
Still, the Tampa native would have like to get on the road in the coming weeks.
“I didn’t have any visits planned, but I wanted to go on a lot of visits, but now I can because Corona affected everything,” he said.
The Seffner Christian Academy said he will “for sure” hit the road when the dead period is lifted, although he doesn’t have a specific itinerary at this point.
Trigg has an impressive offer sheet that also includes schools like Notre Dame, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Penn State, Michigan and Tennessee among several others.
Trigg landed the offer from the Irish back in January and said he’s since connected with new Irish tight ends coach John McNulty.
“He just really likes my skillset and how I’m very versatile,” he said of McNulty.
“Since he’s a new coach, I just want to see how they use the tight end this year during the season.”
Trigg thinks he’ll get up to South Bend in the fall.
“I’ll probably have to get up there for a game, so I want to see the use of the tight end,” he said. “I want to see what kind of versatility they’re doing and if they’re using the type of tight ends they usually have.”
He doesn’t have a timeline for a decision.
“Not yet, but I plan to do it at an all-star game or sometime during my senior season.”
