ISD is taking it back to 2005 as Rick Kimball went into the archives to dig up some photos from Notre Dame’s 41-21 win over Tennessee.
The Fighting Irish entered the game ranked No. 8 in the country and passed all over the Vols as Brady Quinn completed 20-of-33 passes for 295 yards and three touchdowns. All-American Jeff Samardzija caught seven passes for 127 yards and one score, including a 73-yard touchdown.
Tight end Anthony Fasano and receiver Maurice Stovall also caught touchdowns.
However, the day was about Notre Dame safety Tom Zbikowski as he recorded a 33-yard pick six and returned a punt 78 yards for another touchdown.
Notre Dame’s defense limited Vols quarterback Erik Ainge to completing 12-of-32 passes for 187 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Tennessee running back Arian Foster had a big day with 28 carries for 125 yards and one touchdown.
