It’s still relatively early in the recruitment of Shawn Miller‍, but the 2022 athlete has already emerged as one of the best prospects in the entire state of Arizona.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder who announced he was transferring from Saguaro High School to IMG Academy earlier this month has early offers from Arizona, Arizona State and Miami.

“It feels good for people to notice me early on in my career and notice my hard work,” Miller said.

He’s also receiving interest from several other big-time programs, including Notre Dame.

Prior to the installation of the current dead period, Miller was invited to South Bend to participate in Irish Invasion, Notre Dame’s showcase camp that had been scheduled for June 6th.

He’d planned on attending the camp before it too was cancelled.

“It was an honor and it was good to see teams noticing my hard work,” he said of hearing from the Irish.

“They’re a program with a lot of tradition and a hard-working school, a Catholic school with a good education and good academics.”

The Scottsdale native could receiver or safety, but most of his current interest is on offense.

“I could play both sides of the ball, but right now, it’s mainly receiver,” he said.

Miller was excited about the possibility of showcasing what he can do in front of the Notre Dame coaches.

“My route-running and my athleticism and my physicality,” he said of what he thought he could show them.

He’s still looking forward to the chance of getting a better understanding of Notre Dame at some point in the future.

“I just want to see how they run their program,” he said. “I want to talk to the receivers coach and the offensive coordinator to see how they run their offense and how they’re coaching players up.”

Miller didn’t take any visits before the dead period kicked in, but he’s also receiving interest from schools like Stanford, Cal and Michigan State and would like to check out those places when he can as well.

For now, he’s doing what he can to stay on top of his recruitment.

“I’m just keeping up on social media and keeping in touch with different coaches across platforms and that’s pretty much it,” he said.

When it does come time to choose a school, he’ll be looking at more than football.

“The main one, if football doesn’t work out, will I feel comfortable at that school and if it will help me in the long run. I want to major in real estate, so a school that has good education in real estate that will help me and my family in the long run.”
