Hoops | Names to Know in the 2022 Class
The contact period opened up for the 2022 recruiting class on Monday and Notre Dame was busy contacting prospects throughout the day.
We’ve narrowed it down to a few names you should be keeping tabs on as the recruiting cycles advances.
C Donovan Clingan - Offered
High School: Bristol Central (Bristol, Conn.)

Extended notes from Christian.
PG JJ Starling
High School: Charles W. Baker (Baldwinsville, NY)
HT: 6'0
WT: 150
Ranking: Four-Star
Offers: Alabama, Bryant, Siena, St. John's, Syracuse and Wake Forest.
Starling averaged 28 points per game this past season and is considered one of the better shooters in the 2022 class. The New York native made 100 three-pointers last season and eclipsed the 30-point mark 11 times with a season-low of 16 points.
SG Fletcher Loyer
High School: Clarkston (Clarkston, Mich)
HT: 6'5
WT: 165
Ranking: N/A
Offers: Denver, Detroit, Michigan, Nebraska, Purdue, Toledo and Utah
Loyer's brother, Foster, played point guard at Michigan State. Loyer averaged 22 points per game and shot 48% from three last year. And yes, it's the same high school as 2021 OL Rocco Spindler.
PF Ben Middlebrooks
High School: Westminster Academy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)
HT: 6'8
WT: 190
Ranking: Three-Star
Offers: Auburn, Florida, Florida Gulf Coasts, Iowa State, South Florida, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest
Middlebrooks averaged 20 points and 13 rebounds a game as a sophomore. He's visited Florida and Wake Forest. His uncle also played football at Florida State and his father went to Auburn.
PG Rodney Rice
High School: DeMatha (Potomac, Md.)

WT: 175
Ranking: Four-Star
Offers: Alabama, Georgetown, Howard, Illinois, IUPUI, Louisville, Marquette, Maryland, Michigan, Penn State, Providence, Rhode Island, Seton Hall, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wyoming.
Rice averaged 22.9 points a game for The Bullis School as a sophomore. Louisville, Maryland and Virginia seem to be pushing hard.
PG Jaden Bradley (Pictured)
High School: IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.)
HT: 6'3
WT: 170
Ranking: Five-Star
Offers: Alabama, Arizona State, Auburn, Boston College, Clemson, DePaul, Florida, Florida State, Georgetown, Houston Baptist, Kansas, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, NC State, Pitt, Seton Hall, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Virginia Commonwealth, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Washington and Xavier
Mike Brey was in contact here on Monday. We're told the five-star prospect has a legitimate interest in Notre Dame and the staff is in the process of getting to know him.
F/C Kyle Filipowski
High School: Wilbraham & Monson (Wilbraham, Mass.)
HT: 6'10
WT: 215
Offers: Providence, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Maryland, Marquette, Boston College, Virginia Tech and Xavier
Filipowski added five offers on Monday alone. It’s still a little early in the process for the Irish, but he has very pro-ND people within his circle.
SF Jacrace Walker
High School: IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.)
HT: 6’6
WT: 220
Ranking: Five-Star
Offers: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Bryant, Florida, Georgia, Georgetown, Howard, Kansas State, LSU, Maryland, Nebraska, Syracuse, Villanova and Virginia Tech
Walker is your typical five-star prospect as he can score at a high level and in a variety of ways, which is why Mike Brey gave him a call on Wednesday. It comes as no shock Walker holds offers from big-time programs. It will be interesting to watch this develop as Notre Dame is recruiting his teammate Jaden Bradley. IMG Academy isn’t a school where kids become package deals, but the chance to play early at Notre Dame has to be appealing to both players.
