2021 Notre Dame QB Commit Tyler Buchner Earns More Recognition

2021 Helix (Calif.) quarterback Tyler Buchner‍ entered the 2019 season without much hype as he was coming off a torn ACL in 2018.

2020 is the exact opposite as Buchner surpassed the hype on the field in the fall, shined on the camp circuit this spring and was named to the Elite 11 last week.

MaxPreps gave the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder recognition on Tuesday as Buchner was named to California's First-Team Preseason All-State team.

The 2021 Notre Dame commit racked up over 6,000 yards of total offense and 81 touchdowns as a junior. He transferred to Helix for his senior season and will have the Highlanders in serious contention to win first state title since 2011.

A dream scenario for most high school prospects would be 6,000 total yards in a career. Buchner's stats were hard to comprehend week-to-week, but looking at them on paper might be even harder.

Buchner completed 267-of-402 passes for 4,474 yards and 53 touchdowns. On the ground, the composite five-star prospect added 128 rushes for 1,610 yards and 28 more touchdowns.

The Helix star will bring his 66.4 completion percentage and 12.5 yards per carry to Notre Dame in January.

A few other Notre Dame targets also made the list as 2021 Loyola cornerback Ceyair Wright‍ was also named to the first-team, while 2022 receiver, Tetairoa McMillan‍, 2022 defensive back Kamari Ramsey‍ and 2021 cornerback Prophet Brown‍ were named to the second-team.
