Miami Open to Adding Notre Dame in 2020

College football changes by the day and as of Monday, Notre Dame will need to add a few games to the 2020 campaign.

According to The Miami Herald, Miami is a program that would be more than open to playing Notre Dame as the Big Ten and Pac-12 has moved to conference-only schedules.

ACC commissioner John Swofford has stated the conference would help Notre Dame as the Fighting Irish are in the ACC in most other sports.

"If that was something that was best for the ACC and best for Notre Dame, we would certainly have that conversation with Notre Dame," Swofford said during a May 14 teleconference. "If both parties felt that would be a positive trying to work that out.

"I don't know all the particulars of it, but it is part of our discussions, but that's only one of the multiple paths that this could take."

Miami athletic director Blake James went on the record and would love to get the Irish on the schedule this fall as the Hurricanes need to fill voids on the calendar.

"We will work with the ACC on creating the best schedules possible for our programs," James said in an email to The Miami Herald on Saturday. "If the opportunity for a match up with ND is presented, we would be thrilled to have that game added to our 2020 schedule."

Both teams need to find a few games as the Hurricanes were set to travel to East Lansing on September 26th to play Michigan State. Notre Dame saw its game with Wisconsin get canceled by the Big Ten and games with Stanford and USC with the Pac-12 going to a conference-only slate.

Notre Dame would likely embrace the chance to play Miami as the Irish would love nothing more than to get the 41-8 loss in 2017 out of their minds for good.

If they don't play in 2020, the two teams won't play until 2024 when the 'Canes travel to South Bend before the Irish make the trip back to Miami in 2025.

Notre Dame leads the all-time series 18-7-1.
