Two Notre Dame Commits with Big Games This Weekend

High school football season is upon us and while some teams started last week, it will really kick into gear this weekend.

I'll be at Blake Fisher‍'s game as Avon hosts Ben Davis in a rivalry game on Friday night. Avon fell last week to Lawerence North, but it wasn’t an offensive problem as the Orioles scored 34 points.

Ben Davis features some quality defensive linemen and 2021 Missouri defensive back commit Daylan Carnell‍, who was recruited by Notre Dame early in his recruitment. It will be another good chance to look at Fisher, who was named a five-star prospect this week by Rivals.

However, the big game this week will feature 2021 Notre Dame receiver commit Lorenzo Styles Jr.‍ as Pickerington Central starts its quest for a third state title in four years in Ohio biggest division. The Tigers will host rival Pickerington North on Sunday and the game will be on ESPN2 at 12pm.

The last time Styles touched a football in a game, he scored this 49-yard game-winning touchdown in the State Title game with under four minutes to play.

This game could have been massive as the two teams are not only rivals, but two of the best programs in Central Ohio, but 2021 five-star defensive end (and quarterback) Jack Sawyer‍ decided to sit out his senior year due to COVID-19 and prepare for life at Ohio State next year.

Pickerington North will feature 2021 defensive end Elijah Hawk, who has somewhat drawn attention this summer from a number of programs after sitting out games last year due to transfer rules. Keep an eye on him.

Also, Notre Dame fans should keep an eye on 2023 athlete Sonny Styles‍ for Pickerington Central. Styles is Lorenzo’s younger brother and would have likely more offers, but suffered a leg injury last year which prevented him from playing in 2019. The 6-foot-4, 205-pounder holds an offer from Indiana and it will be interesting to finally see him play. Styles has a big year on the basketball court last year and might be more athletic than his older brother, which is interesting considering his size.

Another name to watch is 2021 Pickerington Central safety Garner Wallace, who is committed to Northwestern.
