Jason Moore‍ didn’t think he’d be in this position, at least not this early, but here he is with the biggest college programs in the country already offering him scholarships.

“To me, it’s a big deal,” the 2023 Maryland defensive end says. “I’m pretty excited about that.”

The DeMatha Catholic High School standout already has offers from schools like Notre Dame, Alabama, LSU, Michigan, Penn State, Texas A&M, USC and Florida among several others.

“I wasn’t expecting all of this to happen so soon, so I’m just thankful for the opportunity,” he says.

He landed the offer from the Irish a couple weeks back during a conversation with Notre Dame assistants John McNulty and Mike Elston.

“They pretty much told me how much they liked my game and that they wanted to offer me,” the 6-foot-6, 255-pounder says.

“They just love how I play and the potential I have. I just have to keep working.”

The Notre Dame offer certainly caught his attention.

“I’m just excited,” Moore says. “Notre Dame is a big-time school, so getting an offer from there is big time.”

He’s also been impressed with McNulty and Elston so far.

“They seem very cool,” he says. “I know they’re probably great coaches. They have a good relationship with my high school coach, so I’m just looking forward to building relationships.”

Moore, whose older brother Justin is a standout basketball player at Villanova, plans on staying in regular contact to get more information on Notre Dame.

“We plan on speaking every week,” he says. “I just want to learn more about the school itself and the education and everything.”

He expects to hit the road to make visits whenever he’s allowed.

“Right now, any school that’s interested in me, if I have the time, I’ll try to plan a visit,” he says.

Moore has an idea of what he’s looking for in a college.

“Just how comfortable I feel with the school and the coaches and how the school will help me with my future whether it includes football or not.”
