Not only are the current commits in Notre Dame’s 2021 and 2022 recruiting classes excited about the Irish’s against Clemson this weekend, they’re confident.

We didn’t hear a single future Domer say they believed the top-ranked Tigers would leave South Bend with a win.

2021 safety pledge Justin Walters‍ (pictured above) feels getting to see Trevor Lawrence’s replacement, DJ Uiagalelei, play against Boston College last week will be to the Irish’s advantage.

“I think ND is going to take it,” Walters told ISD. “Especially with being able to assess the BC film and exploit the weaknesses of Clemson’s units.

“If ND can keep doing what they have been doing on defense against Clemson, they will be able to win.”

2021 cornerback commit Chance Tucker‍ also believes defensive coordinator Clark Lea’s unit will be ready.

“I feel like our defense is going to keep us in the game,” Tucker said. “Especially against their backup QB. But our offense has to play lights out as well.

“Clemson is the #1 team for a reason. If we play lights out on both sides of the ball, we’ll come out with a win.”

2021 tight end commit Mitchell Evans‍ also sees Notre Dame taking a close one.

“It’s obviously going to be a very tough game, I think that Notre Dame can pull it off though,” said Evans. “34-33 Notre Dame wins it by Clemson missing a field goal or we block it.”

2021 defensive end commit Will Schweitzer‍ sees a close contest bending Notre Dame’s way.

“It’s going to be a great game!” he said. “Our offense is going to ball out and our D is going to do what it does. Notre Dame by 7.”

Pat Coogan

2021 offensive line commit Pat Coogan‍ believes this will be a statement game for the Irish.

“Time to earn some deserved respect,” he said. “ND, 24-17.”

2021 cornerback commit Ryan Barnes‍ likes the Irish based on what he’s seen from them so far this season.

“I think they are going to win,” he said. “If they continue to improve like they have been, there shouldn’t be a problem.”

2022 tight end commit Jack Nickel‍ also likes the Irish’s chances.

“I think it’ll be a really good game, but I think ND comes out on top 31-28,” he said.

2021 offensive line commit Joe Alt‍ sees a similar outcome.

“I think it is going to be a close game, but ND on top 28-21,” said Alt.

2021 running back commit Logan Diggs‍ simply said, “Notre Dame, of course.”
