Recruitment Rundown
Notre Dame made Spindler a priority for just about two years as they were one of the first programs to offer the four-star prospect. There were many twists and turns in this recruitment as the Michigan native earned a national offer list and took his fair share of visit, but it always came back to Michigan, Notre Dame and Penn State. Notre Dame started to trend with Spindler in the spring of 2020 and it carried over into the summer as the NCAA implemented a dead period due to COVID-19. Spindler knew where he wanted to go to school in June of 2020 and advised ISD on June 24th he was committing to Notre Dame. The secret was kept under lock and key until August 8th when Spindler picked the Fighting Irish over Michigan.

Father Marc Spindler
“With Notre Dame, it’s from the beginning to the end. When you think about tradition going way back to the beginning all of the way to modern day, not much has changed. When you have that type of rich history and tradition, you have that network after football. I compare it to my daughter’s graduation from West Point, a Long Gray Line. I think Notre Dame probably has their version of a Long Gray Line, so I think that’s what’s appealing to me personally as a dad.”

ISD expert Jamie Uyeyama
Spindler is a top-100 recruit for a reason. There just aren’t many guys this big who can move like he does. Much like Fisher, his issue might be making sure he doesn’t gain too much weight because he looks like he easily will carry 330 pounds on his frame.

I have seen some throw out Quenton Nelson comparisons for him and I think that’s unfair to Spindler. Nelson was a better prospect in my opinion and he became a generational talent at Notre Dame. That’s a lofty standard to live up to.

He does have the potential to develop into one of the top interior offensive linemen in the country, though. Physically he should be ready to compete early in his career and it would be surprising if he wasn’t in the mix in his second year to play a lot and eventually be a multi-year starter.

Favorite quote to ISD
"Being part of Notre Dame, it's something special. We forged something before it was official, but now that it's official, we're looking forward to filling the shoes of Quenton Nelson, Ronnie Stanley and Mike McGlinchey. We looked up to those guys and now we have to do our part."
