37, 40, and 80. Those three big plays summed up the bad for the Notre Dame defense against Syracuse. It was uncharacteristic to say the least, especially after how they shut down a much more explosive running game the previous week.

It should be noted that the 80-yard touchdown came in garbage time. 99 rushing yards overall happened then. Take that out and 31 carries for 130 yards (4.19 per carry) isn’t elite, but more reflective of the day Notre Dame had stopping the run.
