Reports | Vanderbilt Expected to Hire Clark Lea
Notre Dame defensive coordinator Clark Lea will have a new gig shortly as Pete Thamel reports Vanderbilt is expected to announce his hiring in the coming days.
The hiring makes a ton of sense as Lea is not only a Nashville native, but also attended and played for Vanderbilt.
Lea leads one of the country's top defenses at Notre Dame and Brian Kelly expects him to see the season through as the Irish are firmly in the race for the College Football Playoff.
"If it's the right fit for him, he's in it for the long haul here at Notre Dame," stated Kelly. "It's not going to disrupt what he does in his preparation for the championship game and hopefully moving forward. That's a given. You're dealing with professionals that recognize that when they make a commitment here, they're committing to seeing it through.
"I'm not really concerned about it. I know our players aren't as well. As it relates to a distraction, I don't see that it's going to be a distraction at all."
Vanderbilt is 0-9 in 2020 and will finish the regular season at No. 9 Georgia on Saturday.
