BREAKING | Notre Dame Signs 2021 QB Ron Powlus III
Brian Kelly typically likes to take one quarterback each recruiting class, but when circumstances warrant the Notre Dame head coach doing otherwise, he’ll do otherwise.
Circumstances down the stretch in 2020 dictated the need for the Irish to look for a second quarterback this recruiting cycle and they found one close to home, like very close to home.
On Wednesday, Notre Dame announced 2021 Indiana quarterback Ron Powlus III from Granger, Ind., and Penn High School in Mishawaka.
Yes, the son of former Notre Dame star quarterback and current Associate Athletics Director for Football, Ron Powlus.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder received offers from Kentucky, Central Michigan, Buffalo and Bowling Green before being presented with the opportunity to play for the hometown school and his father’s alma mater.
The Irish have had highly-touted quarterback Tyler Buchner in the class since March of 2019 and the California native signed with Notre Dame on Wednesday.
But the Irish felt they needed to add depth at the position in the program and that was the reason for adding Powlus to the group in the end.
