The Skinny
At one point, it looked like this recruitment could be wrapped up quickly and likely in the Irish’s favor, but Schrauth has taken a more methodical approach. After narrowing his list to four schools back in October, but that number is more like three now with Michigan on the outside looking in at Notre Dame, Ohio State and Wisconsin.

Schrauth calls Notre Dame’s combination of academics and athletics “the best of both worlds.”

He visited South Bend last November, but says he’ll probably return for another visit along with stops at Ohio State and Wisconsin before making a final decision.

Timetable
Schrauth seems set on making those visits after the dead period is lifted so that he can spend some time with the coaching staffs at each school while he’s there. As it is now, that cannot happen until April at the earliest. These trips are a priority to Schrauth, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see him take them as quickly as he can and to make a final decision shortly afterward.

ISD Expert Jamie Uyeyama
Schrauth is a two-way lineman who is going to play offense in college. He’s a good athlete for his size who isn’t heavy-footed. That’s why even though he plays guard, he has the athletic profile and frame that could project to tackle. He does a fantastic job of getting out to the second level and finishing his block. He’s raw with his technique in a lot of ways, but not at all with his feet. That’s the important part and the rest can get cleaned up a lot easier.
