2022 Medina (Ohio) quarterback Drew Allar‍ has been one of the hottest prospects in the recruiting world over the last month and Notre Dame has now joined in the mix.

Offensive coordinator Tommy Rees offered the four-star quarterback on Thursday afternoon and then followed it up with a Zoom call with the entire offensive staff.

"Coach Rees actually tried to call me during school, but I couldn't answer, so I called him after school ended," Allar told ISD. "We were just talking for probably 10 minutes and he said he had a good conversation with Coach (Brian) Kelly and they wanted to offer.

"After that, I actually had a Zoom call and they introduced the whole offensive staff to me. I talked with all of them for about 10 minutes. It was kind of crazy, but it was super nice being able to meet everybody. That was a cool experience."

Notre Dame had been in contact with the Ohio native over the last month, but the offer caught Allar by surprise.

"I thought it was going to be a normal conversation," laughed Allar. "I was pretty surprised and excited about it because it's Notre Dame and they're really picky with who they offer at any position, especially quarterback. It's really cool to have Notre Dame as an opportunity."

Over the last month, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Ohio, Ole Miss, Penn State, Texas A&M and Washington have offered, but life hasn't changed too much for the Medina star.

"I guess it's normal, but I'm getting more phone calls each day," said Allar. "It's still the same and I try to keep it the same. All these offers are cool, but there is still a lot more I want to do from a fundamental and development standpoint.

"I want to get better with my teammates because I want to have a really good season with my classmates that I've grown up with my whole life. Hopefully, we can make a run in the playoffs again this year."

The schools that have offered recently are also the programs recruiting Allar the hardest and he expects Notre Dame to recruit him harder moving forward.

"I've been in contact with most of my offers this far," explained Allar. "I've been talking consistently with Iowa State, Penn State, Michigan, Pitt, Texas A&M a little bit and South Carolina.

"Those are the schools talking with me the most and consistently. Now that Notre Dame is in the mix, they are going to plan on talking with me more. The same with Ole Miss."

The next step for Allar will be to make independent visits or virtual visits over Zoom to learn about each school that's recruiting him.

Allar has been to Notre Dame, so the Irish hold that advantage as he's familiar with the campus, but he also wants to learn more about the academics and the program.

"I'll talk with my family about that," Allar stated. "I might schedule some virtual visits through Zoom because that might be easier for both of us. I'll be able to learn more about each school over Zoom. It's a really helpful tool because all of the colleges do a really good job of putting together presentations about academics, the campus and the program."

Despite the recent attention, Allar isn't in a rush to make a commitment as he wants to find the right fit for him.

"I'm still taking it day by day," said Allar. "I feel I'll know what place is right for me. I'm not sure when that's going to be. I feel it will just be a gut feeling."
