Former Michigan captain Mike McCray II is Notre Dame's newest defensive graduate assistant as he'll work with the secondary.

While at Michigan from 2013-2017, McCray totaled 154 career tackles, 30.5 tackles for loss, 9.0 sacks and two interceptions. He was also a two-time All-Big Ten selection.

The 6-foot-4 linebacker went undrafted and signed with Miami, but announced his retirement a few days before training camp.

McCray has spent the last two seasons at Michigan working as a defensive analyst.

The Dayton, Ohio native chose the Wolverines over offers from the likes of Boston College, Kentucky, Louisville, Minnesota, NC State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, Purdue, South Carolina and Tennessee.
