It’s still somewhat early in the recruiting process for Tackett Curtis‍, but the 2023 Louisiana safety is beginning to draw serious interest and many big-time scholarship offers.

In the month of March alone, Curtis has picked up offers from schools like USC, Georgia, Auburn, Michigan, Penn State, Oregon, Stanford, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Louisville, Arkansas and Ole Miss among others.

“He's kind of blowing up,” Many High School head coach and Curtis’ uncle, Jess Curtis said. “He's got a lot of schools on him now. He's the real deal.”

Notre Dame has shown some preliminary interest.

“They asked for his transcription,” his coach said. “He's kind of in the evaluation process.”

Curtis noted his 6-foot-2, 207-pound nephew made 16 tackles in the state championship game as a freshman.

“We knew he would have a big year this year,” the coach said. “He just continued to have a special season, took us back and we won state again with him.”

Curtis plays free safety for Many, but could play in the box in college.

“He has the speed to play (safety) and the agility, he runs the alley like no other,” the coach said. “When you turn the film on, it's a fun film to watch. He is knocking people through the dirt. He's just a physical kid who can run. He has the frame to play linebacker or safety.

“It's been fun to watch the teams that offered. Stanford said he's a guy can play safety, but with all of these uptempo offenses where they try to get people trapped on the field, this kid is an athlete. That's what people get to see now, they're getting to watch his film and evaluate.”

Curtis said Notre Dame would “absolutely, absolutely” be a school his nephew would consider seriously.

“Just because of their style of play and you see so many great players come from there,” the coach said. “Notre Dame, let's be honest, it's Notre Dame. It's like Stanford, it's a school that prides itself on education; Tackett's a 4.0 academic kid as well, so that's also a big pull for him.

“That's the thing about Tackett, he's probably the best defender that we've ever had come through our program. And then he's got the 4.0 GPA, which makes him an easy sell.”
