When Notre Dame wins the toss, it’s pretty much automatic that they choose to receive. When the opposition wins the toss, they more often choose to defer.

They had the ball first in 11 of their 12 games last season. That means that the opposition had the ball to start the second half in most of those games.

It’s difficult to argue against that strategy when you consider the success Notre Dame had.
