Notre Dame Making 2022 WR Tyler Morris A Priority
2022 Nazareth Academy (Ill.) receiver Tyler Morris has been on Notre Dame’s recruiting board for years, so the Irish locking in his first official visit wasn't too much of a surprise.
The four-star prospect has been to Notre Dame previously, but Morris is looking forward to experiencing and learning more about what his college experience could be like in South Bend.
"It's just the school I've been talking to since freshman year," Morris said of why he set his Notre Dame official visit first. "Interest is high and it's close, so it's a school I'm interested in. I just want to get a real visit in and see everything."
The 6-foot, 175-pounder will also be locking in a few more visits in the coming days as he plans out his summer schedule.
"I haven't set any other visits yet," stated Morris. "I think I'm going to set up one with Michigan and I might set one up with Florida. Those will be done soon I think."
Notre Dame receivers coach Del Alexander has formed a solid relationship with Morris, dating back to when he coached the Nazareth Academy star at Irish Invasion in 2019.
The conversations between the two are simple at this stage, as Alexander has made it clear Morris is needed at Notre Dame.
"Basically, he's just saying they want me and I'm one of the top priorities," explained Morris. "He's just trying to build the relationship. He's trying to get me to understand that they want me there and they're going to do anything they can to get me there."
Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly has also been involved and spoke to Morris last week.
"I talked to him last week," said Morris. "I set up my official visit with him. He told me I'm their priority and let me know they are serious about me and want me up there."
At this point in his recruitment, Morris has heard everything he needs to hear from Florida, Michigan and Notre Dame. It's not about getting to those schools and seeing where he's most comfortable.
"I don't think there's one certain thing with either one where it's like if I hear this, I'm going to go there," Morris stated. "I just want to get a better feel with the officials and see what feels more at home. I really want to get a better feel for each school."
As for a timeline, Morris would love to be done with visits in June and then have a decision made by the start of his senior year.
"I'll probably make my decision by the end of the summer," stated Morris. "Maybe July depending on what visits I can get in and where I'm able to go."
And while Notre Dame will get to host Morris in June, Kelly and the Irish might have a wildcard as Julian Love was roaming the Nazareth Academy on Saturday afternoon.
Love attended Nazareth Academy before starring at Notre Dame and Morris well-aware of his success.
"Not yet," laughed Morris when asked if Love had been recruiting him. "Coach Kelly did say he was going to tell Julian to reach out to me."
